ANAVI Infrared pHAT is an open source hardware add-on board that converts your Raspberry Pi into a smart remote control that can bring your old consumer electronic devices, like air conditioning, TV, set top boxes and Hi-Fi systems to the Internet of Things (IoT) era.

Getting started is easy. No soldering is required. Just attach ANAVI Infrared pHAT to a Raspberry Pi with your bare hands and follow the exact steps from the comprehensive user’s manual. Furthermore, for interactivity and programmability, ANAVI Infrared pHAT supports sensor modules for temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, and light. Free and open source examples of applications written in Python and the C programming language are available at GitHub.

In May 2017, the first version of ANAVI Infrared pHAT was successfully crowdfunded and all orders were shipped ahead of schedule. All additional boards were quickly sold out. Due to the high demand, we need your help again to make another batch. Together we can reduce the manufacturing costs and cut the end product price. Every contribution has an impact and makes a difference. Please help us make more open source hardware boards for you!

ANAVI Infrared pHAT is easy to use. It is appropriate for developers, makers, engineers, hobbyists, students and anyone else interested in Internet of Things (IoT) and low cost, do it yourself (DIY) home automation.

ANAVI Infrared pHAT is useful to any Raspberry Pi owner interested in:
  • Controlling the air conditioning and making it more energy efficient from a Raspberry Pi
  • Replacing the remote control of the TV and HiFi systems with Raspberry Pi
  • Brining life back to other old consumer electronic devices with infrared remote controls and converting them into Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Creating a weather station for monitoring temperature, humidity, barometric pressure and light
  • Integration with Alexa or Google Assistant to interaction with the home appliances by voice
  • Integration with Home Assistant, openHAB or other popular open source software systems for home automation to easily interact with them from your smartphone, tablet, or laptop

Features & Specifications :

  • 2x 5 mm IR transmitters (IR LEDs)
  • IR receiver (IR photo sensor)
  • Slots for up to three plug and play sensor modules
  • UART pins for debugging
  • EEPROM with board manufacturer information and a device tree fragment

Compatibility:

ANAVI Infrared pHAT works with Raspberry Pi 3, Raspberry Pi 2, Raspberry Pi A+, Raspberry Pi B+, Raspberry Pi 0, and Raspberry Pi 0 W.

ANAVI Infrared pHAT officially supports the following I2C modules with:
  • HTU21D sensor for temperature and humidity
  • BMP180 sensor for barometric pressure
  • BH1750 sensor for light
You may also attach any other I2C sensors, but you will have to take care of their software integration.

The first batch of ANAVI Infrared pHAT boards was successfully crowdfunded in May 2017. All orders were fulfilled two months ahead of schedule and all other boards were quickly sold out. Due to the high demand, we need your help to make another batch of boards and to keep the price as low as possible. In addition, ANAVI Infrared pHAT now comes with even better documentation, updated software support for Raspbian Stretch, and more example applications.
